Part two of three peer-to-peer NAPFA webinars offered in 2019, four financial planning professionals will share insights on tax preparation as experienced at each of their individual firms. Specifically exploring the question, should advisors offer tax prep as part of their services to clients? Some say doing so is a big value-add from the client’s perspective, and that it is one of the best methods for advisors to learn more about their clients. Others say it’s time-intensive and therefore one of the least profitable segments of their business; and that it all but eliminates potential referral relationships with CPAs.

The objective of this discussion will be for members to hear the pros and cons of tax preparation from a panel comprised of advisors who have experience doing this as a part of their financial planning practice.

Marcus Miller joined Deerfield Financial Advisors, Inc. as an advisor in 2012, after gaining industry experience in both accounting and financial planning. In addition to his CFP designation, Marcus has a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Ball State and is a CPA. Marcus incorporates this depth of education and experience into helping guide clients through complex financial planning situations.
